Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 June 2026
SayPick (“SayPick”, “we”, “us”) provides a voice shopping assistant that Shopify merchants add to their storefronts. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices available to you. It covers our website (saypick.com), the SayPick Shopify app, and the storefront voice widget.
SayPick serves two groups: merchants (our customers, who install the app) and shoppers (the merchant's customers, who talk to the assistant). For shopper data processed through the widget, the merchant is the data controller and SayPick acts as their processor.
1. Data we collect
From shoppers using the voice assistant
- Microphone audio — captured only after the shopper explicitly opts in. Audio is streamed and transcribed to text in real time. SayPick does not record or store the raw audio; it is processed transiently and discarded.
- Conversation content — the transcribed text of what is asked and answered, plus metadata such as timestamps, the products discussed, and actions taken (e.g. an item added to the cart). Used to run the assistant and produce the merchant's analytics.
- Identifiers — a random first-party identifier and a per-session conversation ID, stored in the shopper's browser (local storage) and attached to the cart, so a later purchase can be attributed to the conversation that drove it. These are not advertising identifiers and are not linked to third-party ad networks.
- Order attribution — when an attributed checkout completes, we receive limited order information (order identifier, total value, currency, and the conversation ID) via Shopify's Web Pixel, solely to report the revenue the assistant influenced.
From merchants
- Account & store details — your store domain and the information Shopify provides on install.
- Catalog data — products, variants, prices, and inventory, accessed through Shopify permissions so the assistant can answer shoppers from your live catalog.
- Settings you configure — your brand context, recommendation guidance, persona, and chosen voice.
- Billing status — your plan and usage, managed through Shopify Billing (we do not see or store your card details).
2. How we use data
- To provide the voice assistant and answer shoppers from your live catalog.
- To carry out actions a shopper requests, such as adding an item to the cart.
- To attribute purchases and produce your analytics dashboard.
- To operate, secure, support, and improve the service.
- To bill for usage and comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use shopper conversations to serve advertising.
3. Service providers (sub-processors)
We share data with a small set of providers strictly to deliver the service:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Deepgram | Speech-to-text (transcribing shopper audio in real time) |
| Cerebras — and, depending on configuration, other LLM providers (e.g. Groq, OpenAI, Anthropic) | Generating the assistant's responses from the conversation and catalog context |
| Cartesia | Text-to-speech (synthesizing the assistant's spoken reply) |
| Shopify | Storefront, catalog access, billing, and order/attribution events |
| Our cloud hosting provider | Running the SayPick services and database |
Each provider is bound to use the data only to perform its function for us.
4. Cookies & local storage
The widget stores a small number of values in the shopper's browser local storage: a first-party identifier, the current conversation ID, and a flag recording that the shopper consented to use the microphone. We also attach the identifier and conversation ID to the cart as attributes. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
5. Data retention & deletion
- Conversation and analytics data are retained while the merchant's account is active, so the merchant can see results over time.
- When a merchant uninstalls the app, we purge that store's data (conversations, events, settings, and billing records).
- We honor Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks for data-subject requests, customer redaction, and shop redaction.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to or restrict its processing (for example under the GDPR or CCPA). Shoppers should direct requests to the merchant whose store they used; we will assist that merchant in fulfilling them. You can also contact us directly at privacy@saypick.com.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. We restrict access to personal data to what is needed to run and support the service. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.
8. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
9. Children
SayPick is a business tool for merchants and is not directed to children. The assistant is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate we will notify merchants.
